Let's climb some hills!
I stole these pics from Chopper Dave's blog. Apparently this awesome Ironehead hill climber was @ last Sundays Long Beach Swap Meet. So freaking cool!!!

Southpaw Machine
I've been real stoked to make some new friends this spring. Ross Lenoir, of Southpaw Machine (check out his blog on my list to the right), is a really nice guy that helps out a TON of people with his machining talents. He helped me with my brass pegs and shaving my lower fork legs.
Be sure to drop Ross a line if you need some custom pieces for your scooter. He's great at tons of different items from points covers and complete air cleaners, to full custom one-off parts for specialty applications.

Let's learn about transmissions!
I'm the proud new owner of an Ironhead transmission! Now to read up on anything and everything I can while these gears are being shipped! Hopefully I won't be down too long and will be ready for the cooler riding temperatures!

Ironhead Version 2.0
The quest to please the Chopper Gods is a long and arduous one! I'm really digging the new look my Ironhead has with the Superglide tank and black fender/oil bag. Headlight changes are on the horizon. I'm also about to tackle a transmission rebuild. Wish me luck, I'm sure I will need it!!!

AMA Races @ Barber Motorsports Park
Bill, Ross and I headed out to Barber Motorsports Park for the AMA Superbike races today. We had a great time walking through the paddock checking out all the race bikes/pits.
Bill and I waited on Ross to join us for the ride over. I took advantage of the time to take a pic of my bike with Bill's kick arse XS650. Today was my first ride with the new Superglide tank. I'm loving the new look!
1928 Harley Davidson w/sidecar. This was a team mechanics "pit bike". It was FLAWLESS!!!
This was a view from the start of the Sport Bike (600cc) race. We didn't watch a ton of racing but we had an awesome day.

Big Mountain Run Detour
Ed took Bill, AJ, and myself on a little detour while we were on our way home from BMR2011. He took us to the Drifters RC clubhouse in Rainbow City, AL. What a great way to end an awesome weekend!
"Welcome to Philly!" - Ha!
Bill, Ed and AJ at the Drifters clubhouse
One of the other members was there working on a construction project. A few of us are heading back up there this coming Saturday for their "Ride In Bike Show". Should be a good time!

Mid Season Makeover!
I have been wanting to make my bike "my own" considering I didn't build it. I've made some changes (Shaved lower legs, 23" spoolie, some brass accent pieces, etc.) in the past 6 months but I needed to do more. I've had a ton of people email me saying they've seen (or bid) on my bike. Enough is enough.
I was in the right place at the right time this week @ Garco. Bart dropped by and mentioned he had an AMF Superglide tank from the 70's.
A deal was made and he brought it to the shop today. I painted my rear fender and oil tank gloss black. "Diablo Azul" is no more. Tank is going on the wall as an offering to the metal flake chopper Gods!
I'm so pumped! A bunch of people were at the shop today and the general consensus was that this tank looked way better than the previous.

Bill's BMR Pictures
Bill emailed me some of his pictures from last month's Big Mountain Run. I'm already looking forward to next May!!!
Real "bikers" think of the next day. Schweppes Ginger Ale, rubber cement, bug repellent and corn on the cobb! What else do you need?

More pics from last week
Here are a few more pics from my "Motorcycle Friday" trip. The amount of memorabilia was impressive. Even more impressive was that it was owned by an 81 year old who collected it over the years. Not by a museum or collector buying up stuff on eBay. I hope to able to visit again!

Shane B
This is a pic of the super-talented Shane B at the Dixie Roundup. Shane tattooed a bullfrog that was given away as an award. It's been fun watching Shane create some killer artwork (leatherwork, paint, metal engraving, etc.) as of late. He's painting my vintage full face helmet and I can't wait to see what he comes up with!

Great day
Motorcycle Friday! My neighbor took me to see a friend of his. This guy was a British Bike aficionado with a taste for Matchless. His collection had Nortons, Triumphs, BSA's and even a Ducati 250. NOS parts lined every nook and cranny of his shop, basement and garage. Later, my friend Bill came over and helped me re-wire my Ironhead. Good day for sure!
Barber Superbike Classic
I know you "Period Correct Chopper Freaks" aren't into racing, but this is a great event at an even better venue! For those of you that love racing, come out to Barber Motorsports Park June 17-19 and check out the action. The Vance and Hines XR1200 (Harley) class has some of the best racing. Be sure to check out the Vintage Museum while you are there (trust me on this)!!!!
